Hello hot people, it’s been a minute. If you are receiving this, it is because you signed up for/attended a Drinks First event. If you’re lucky, I send this out once? a month… Give me a chance before you choose to unsubscribe, and if you do- I’d love to know why you hate me and want to see me fail <3

ANYWAY…

Sorry for going MIA, I have a life outside of this!! shocking I know… Jk I actually don’t. I’ve officially completed Q1 of working full time on Drinks First and it has been a wild ride.

I spent the last 6 weeks traveling, working, and getting 50 shades of brown… I went to Albania for a music festival, island hopped around Greece, made my annual pilgrimage to London/ The Cotswolds, and celebrated my sister-in-law’s bachelorette in Mexico City / Valle de Bravo aka “the hamptons of cdmx”. If you haven’t guessed it already- I love to travel. I have been to over 40 countries, have a subscription to CN Traveler, and earlier this year I shot a travel show around the UK with VICE (sry if you’ve seen me on your youtube ads).

If you’d like to get the inside scoop on my travels, including recommendations, all of that will be for my paid subscribers

On to what you’re all really here for:

TLDR:

  • Drinks First Recap + Happenings

  • Highlighted Singles

  • Rapid Fire Recommendations

  • Behind the paywall: travel recommendations + itineraries (this week it is the North Fork of Long Island, aka the low key hamptons. Euro Summer recs in the next newsletter…), discounts/vip/first access to Drinks First events (sometimes the value of this > the substack subscription)

DRINKS FIRST RECAP + HAPPENINGS

nerds and socialites at everdene by @shindelverse

Last month (June) we threw 3 different events! We kicked off the month by bringing nyc socialites and nerds together for closing party of NY Tech Week with Litquidity and Tech Breakfast Club at Everdene at Virgin Hotels NY.

pride happy hour at the standard ev garden by @owenwarren1

we of course had to do something to celebrate pride and our lgbtqia+ community- so we got the most gorgeous venue (the standard east village garden) and partnered with maude, foria wellness, and fluid health by Dr. Varuna Srinavasan to have a chilled out happy hour.

INTRODUCING… SPARK SESSIONS

Spark Session with Allen Ye at Perfomance HQ by @ariana.nathani

We capped June off with our first ever Spark Sessions event. This is our new wellness focused event series for those who want to meet people while bettering their mind, body, soul (not always I, but hey we got something for everyone). We partnered with the incredible Allen Ye who ran a workout class, guided cold plunge, and sauna session at Performance HQ complete with a happy hour by canned coconut water cocktail- Mother’s Milk. The event was capped at 20 people, and it was such a success majority of them stayed till after 1am partying it up in the gym!!! It was truly one of those Drinks First moments that make you smile.

This was a really different month of events, but was so fun to be able to show how many different ways we can be bringing people together!

What’s Next?

DRINSK FIRST SPARK SESSIONS @ OTHERSHIP - August 21st

Othership Flatiron

Let me put you on- Othership is landing in NYC’s Flatiron. The hottest craze right now is cold plunging and sauna, but you have never done it like this. Save the date for August 21st, we will be allowing select members of Drinks First to join us for a free night (yes night, with music and seggsy lighting) at Othership, complete with sauna, cold plunge, and plenty of mingling. This event will be guest list approvals only and will be photographed and filmed. I won’t be posting the link to apply for guest list publicly until August, but if you want early access I’m making it available for my paid substack subscribers ;)

LOADING… AN INSANE END OF SUMMER EVENT FOR ALL TO BE ANNOUNCED

NYC’S KINDA ELIGBILE

As promised- each newsletter I will highlight 2 single individuals, and we will facilitate the connections. Usually we do this anonymously for the podcast, but here are two people we couldn’t resist sharing:

Jenny

@jennycestquoi

Name: Jenny

Age: 32

Neighborhood: Crown Heights

Seeking: I’m looking for a literal husband, can you imagine?

Occupation: Comedian. Jenny also writes a substack where answers the question "where should I even go out tonight!?" Ranking New York's bars, clubs, and backrooms to find the perfect night out...and hopefully a husband. Check it out here.

Review from a friend:

You should date Jenny because:

• She makes everything better/more fun. She’s a yes girl through and through, which is perfect for a partner in crime.

• Powerhouse boss ass bitch. If you want a wifey to go in on a yacht with, Jenny’s your girl.

• Unshakeable sense of self. Jenny knows who she is and what she wants! That could be you! What an honor!

• Full of surprises. The bitch loves magic! Like the abracadabra kind.

• Knows how to dress for any occasion/dime piece/phat a$$.

Max

@maxtanman

Name: Max

Age: 29

Neighborhood: Downtown Jersey City

Seeking: Women

Occupation: Just quit my job :)

Review from a friend:

Funny. Sweet. Down to earth. Max knows how to entertain and keep the party going with his BDE (Big Dance Energy). Spontaneity is one of his best traits. With his quick wit, he can lead a conversation or quietly listen. Behind that handsome face is an angel of a guy.

Rapid Fire Recommendations

  • Date Night: Ammazzacafe in East Williamsburg is being SEVERLY slept on- fantastic food with incredibly fresh ingredients. Walk in and sit at the bar, then go around the corner to the garden at Tuffet for a nightcap

  • Where to dance: Le Bain- very few venues have stayed relevant for over a decade and there is nothing like a summer party at Le Bain. Take a dip in the pool, we won’t tell ;)

  • Where to take your parents/out of towners: Gjelina, the LA favorite and former NYC hotspot, has reopened a pop up at WSA (SAA in bushwick sister property, a truly stunning space)

  • Meeting someone you already went on a date with a while ago but you just reconnected: El Quijote is the lesser known spot in Hotel Chelsea and they have dimly lit booths for 2 people… get the soft serve (ur welcome)

  • When you want a sweet treat: Sundaes and Cones, my favorite ice cream in the city (black sesame is my flavor of choice) is being severely slept on

  • Newest opening: yes I am DTF- Din Tai Fung obv

  • When you want to get denied at the door (but feel really good if you get in): Gospel, if you didn’t hear about them denying John Summit are you even on the internet?

  • Cheap Eats: Why is nobody talking about Los Tacos No. 1 sister restaurant LOS MARISCOS? It reminded me of my fav fish taco spot in CDMX (those recs coming to a future paid newsletter)

  • One thing I’m loving: I get bug bites like CRAZY, and they swell. I always carry military strength bug spray, but I always end up with a few bites that drive me nuts… This summer though I came prepared and got a bug bite zapper. Apparently they use these in Germany but it applies a tiny bit of electric charge to make you stop itching- it kinda feels like you are being burned by a cigarette for a split second but trust me it works… Find it on my amazon storefront (it’s on sale- Beurer BR60 Insect Sting and Bite Relief)

  • A plug worth plugging: Home swapping with Kindred… I just used this while traveling in London and I genuinely cannot recommend more highly. If you have your own apartment, apply for Kindred with my expedited referral code “ARI.NAT” for 5 free nights!

That’s all for now (for you freeloaders)- behind the paywall: North Fork recs, Othership RSVP Link, places to avoid, etc. In the meantime- follow our IG to stay up to date on all our happenings
